vasudha foundation. Dear Shekar,
Please refer to my earlier Emails requesting you to talk to Sayeed Mirja.
First of all I took the liberty in approaching you because of my trust in your secular wisdom and intrinsic understanding of Human relations. Though it will not only of great help to me but also a matter of many talented people who would benefit from your actions, whose lives otherwise have been clouded by petty and divisive politics in addition to lacking in wisdom and proper action.
Let me remind you of an interesting account which is close to my heart that of much celebrated German Film Maker Warner Herzog. During the making of his much acclaimed film FRITZGERELDO in the deep forests of Amazon, while using the help of local Indian tribes, he unwittingly becomes the centre of tribal conflict and a controversy, which claimed the lives of many. During the time in US many Human Rights groups made a protest and gave a call to stop the film production blaming him of the deaths that occurred in tribal conflict. In response those raging protests Herzog stated that if he were to stop and leave the film as an incomplete work, then that would only mean the deaths that happened, during his presence, which resulted in the raise of Natural territorial conflict among the Indian tribes would only be wasted for nothing as those deaths remain insignificant. Where as in carrying his work and in completing the film would not only remain a memorial but also a fitting tribute to the lives lost. The redeemable feature and the value of the lives lost, would not only be valued but also commemorated in bring the creative work to the public space, where people remember the significance of it all. There in which lies the true significance of those Indian tribes and the lives that were lost in making the Film as a memorial in remembrance of those.
As in his understanding and determination Herzog's work became a true memorial of The Amazon Indian tribes and the world has come to recognize it in course of time.
I do have similar faith in your wisdom and the ability to see fairness in the situations, which with your intervention, will be seen in due light and newer understanding, which I believe will not only redeem many of those young creative people who were caught up in conflicting situations, which are part of the dynamic of those and present times.
I hope along with Mr.Sayeed Mrija many others would be able to through better light on the events, which seem to have undermined many young Film graduates from the Film Institute.
Please have faith in your ability to do well and in your wisdom, which through your acts of compassion are nothing but will only be a simple reflection of your nobility.
As in Deepak’s wisdom, the ability to heal the deep wounds that remain in the recesses of peoples history and lives as in the conflicting nature of social cultural and religious values that make lives burdensome and keep the wounds unhealed, needs the healing touch of compassionate and enlightened souls, where humans as GUIDES become divinity personified.
The tradition of film makers Like Chetan Anand, Vijay Anand and Devanand, whose inspiring yet enlightened views that permeated The Indian Film Scholl and laid the foundation for many years in the hearts of Young aspiring film makers is nothing but just a reminder that you have rightfully inherited in guiding many who need your help and advice.
With Loving kindness,
Indrakaran.
